Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective bore-field operations activities including:

performing pre-start checks

diagnosing faults, identifying and addressing hazards

selecting and using required tools and equipment

continuously inspect plant and pipelines to identify defects and potential problems

selecting and using lifting equipment (manual, cranes and loads)

applying breakdown procedures

applying bore / catchment/dam procedures

applying detoxification procedures

comply with emergency procedures

comply with environmental and heritage procedures

comply with isolation procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the bore-field operations activities that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

clarifying and confirming work requirements

demonstrates completion of bore-field operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

correctly operating and monitoring equipment including

planning and preparing for bore-field activities,

monitoring water,

monitoring bore-field equipment

taking and interpreting data from equipment indicator readings

adjusting flow to maintain dam/tank levels

adjusting equipment to approved operating parameters to optimise performance, maintain efficient water treatment systems and to meet water quality targets


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in bore-field operation activities through:

identifying and managing risks and hazards

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

isolation and breakdown procedures and responsibilities

complying with work health and safety practices

complying with emergency procedures

complying with equipment safety requirements

managing waste procedures

carrying out work according to air cleaning principles and systems

complying with WHS procedures

using operational procedures and checks

apply lifting techniques (manual, cranes and loads)

identifying contaminants

understanding equipment processes, technical capability and limitations

complying with hazardous goods procedures and consequences of spills

identifying repair requirements

comply with operational procedures and checks

monitoring and using pumping systems

identifying reagents

identifying repair requirements
